Ok, so I haven't blogged in 3 weeks......my new work portfolio has kept me really busy with lots of meetings and no time to idle in front of my computer. And I just got back from Siem Reap this week. Was there whole of last week and I'm officially templed out. We bought a 3-day Angkor pass for 40USD and hired a driver to take us around to all the various temples and sites. Undoubtedly, the most magnificent of them all was Angkor Wat and the must surreal was the jungle encroached Ta Prohm (where Tomb Raider was filmed). It's mind-boggling how these sites were constructed by hand and to imagine an entire community living in them. The steps were so steep that you literally had to climb up the steps, using your hands. And it was soooooo scorchingly hot that it kinda zaps all your energy so we ended up spending most of the afternoons by the hotel pool :)

We walked or tuk-tuked down to Pub Street for dinners. Pub Street, as the name suggests, is a street where most of the pubs, cafes and restaurants are located. Everything is in USD, so a meal would cost an average of 5USD. But alcohol is dirt cheap with local beer going at 0.75USD :) Shopping is limited with the Old Market and Central Market selling the same things - cambodian silk, shawls, bags, paintings, silver and other knick knacks. With everything in USD, I'm wondering where all the money goes to, with the country still being so poor and undeveloped.

All in all, it was a great trip, relaxing and fun, and at the same time, a real eye-opener. Will post more photos in time. But in the mean time, these are some shots of Angkor Wat at sunset.
